Keith McAslan – Background
Keith is currently the Managing Partner of McAslan Consulting PC with offices in Denver, Colorado and La Quinta, California. McAslan Consulting is a boutique advisory services firm specializing in assisting senior executives, corporate teams, private equity companies and Boards with the successful execution of strategies for companies developing and implementing their competitive advantage, as well as turn-around situations. Services include: executive mentoring, interim executive, strategic prioritization advice, CEO mentoring, organizational evaluations, strategy review and advice for market growth and acquisitions.
Keith was recruited by Stonebridge Partners (Private Equity – White Plains, NY) in December 2015 and engaged as the COO (Consultant) for a portfolio company located in Houston Texas distributing flooring effective January, 2016. I am engaged to coach, mentor and develop the CEO, as well as have the CFO, VP of Operations and HR Manager report directly to me to stabilze the operations and back office of the business.
Keith was the President of Velcon Filters LLC then named Global General Manager for the Velcon Filtration Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE) from 2010 through 2015; however he retired from Parker effective November 1, 2015 as the headquarters was relocating from Colorado Springs, CO to Metamora, Ohio. As President of Velcon Filters LLC, Keith successfully led the organization through an auction process culminating in the sale of the business in November 2012 for The Sterling Group (Private Equity – Houston, Texas) to Parker Hannifin for a 12X multiple of EBITDA. Keith joined Velcon Filters LLC in 2010 and proceeded to organically grow the core business 9.1% in revenues and 42.2% in EBITDA by the end of 2011. Additionally, Keith was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Twin Filter BV (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) during 2011 and then completed the strategic acquisition of Warner Lewis Gmbh. (Frankfurt, Germany) in May 2012. The combination of acquisitions and organic growth increased consolidated revenues from under $50 million to over $120 million in 18 months with a 120% increase in EBITDA.
In November 2014, Keith continued to grow the business for Parker with the acquisition of VFP Fuelling in South Africa and VFP Limitada in Mozambique. During his three year tenure with Parker, Keith diversified the business from its core aviation filtration business leveraging the expertise in high flow fuel filtration to create an entire high flow diesel filtration product line. The CLEANDiesel initiative grew from startup to over $10 million in the first three years.
Before joining Velcon Filters LLC, Keith was a Managing Partner in professional services firms providing C-level expertise to small and medium businesses. While consulting, Keith was a finalist for the prestigious Denver Business Journal’s 2010 CFO of the Year Award. This award was based his accomplishments in turning around and selling Western Forge (manufacturer of Sears Craftsman tools) in 90 days for 13X EBITDA and saving over 450 jobs in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Prior to consulting, Mr. McAslan was with Republic Financial Corporation (private equity) based in Denver, Colorado where he was a Managing Director in the Special Assets Group responsible for the acquisition, staffing, financial and/or operational turnaround and divestiture of distressed portfolio companies.
Before joining Republic, Keith was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Engineering Division of IHS, Inc. (NYSE); a $750 million revenue software technology company; executing a turnaround and increasing EBIT 16.5% CAGR over three years, paying off $250 million in bank debt and participating in an IPO.
Keith joined IHS, Inc. from Vernon Plastics, a Blackstone Group (Private Equity – New York, NY) portfolio company with over $50 million in revenue, where he served as President and CEO executing a turnaround by increasing revenues 12.5% and doubling EBITDA in three years.
Prior to Vernon Plastics, Keith held various senior positions in Finance and Operations including: Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Imperial Wallcoverings (a Blackstone Group/Wasserstein Perella portfolio company) with $400 million in revenue; Director, Finance and Operations Support for Square D Company with $800 million in revenue; and Division Controller in Automotive Operations for Rockwell International Corporation.
Keith has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and MBA from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. His management training includes Strategic Planning at the Harvard Business School; The Management Program at Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Business; and Executive French Emersion Program at Dartmouth College and Arles, France.
